The Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears Drama Isn’t Over Yet

Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears haven’t dated since the early 2000s, but their drama is still going strong. Thanks to recent revelations from Spears’ book, and Timberlake’s shaky marriage, these two just keep stepping on each other’s toes. In all fairness, the singer did apologize to the pop princess in 2021 for all the ugliness between them. However, he seems to be singing a different tune now.

The ‘Diss’

On January 31st, Timberlake performed his single “Cry Me a River” at Irving Plaza in New York City. Before he began singing, Timberlake introduced the song by saying, “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely nobody.” Fans seem to believe this comment was about Spears, despite the fact that Timberlake didn’t give any indication as to what he was referring to. They felt particularly frustrated given the fact that Spears apologized to Timberlake for what she wrote about him in her book, saying, “If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry,” followed by a shout-out to Timberlake’s new song. We agree that it could be about Spears, but innocent until proven guilty, right?

People Reacted

Regardless of who Timberlake was or wasn’t talking about, the internet decided without any question that he was referring to Spears. One fan wrote, “Justin Timberlake takes ANOTHER shot at Britney right before singing ‘Cry Me A River,’ […] even after Britney was kind to him and apologized without actually needing to.” Spears herself got involved several days later, writing on social media that she’d been made aware someone was badmouthing her. She added, “Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did the last time? I’m not sorry!!!” This seems to be a reference to Spears’ past claims that a man she knew would cry when losing a game of basketball to her.

We think it’s save to say that this drama is far from over.
